Helloooo Addco..

12/31/09

Hellooo Addco!

Yet another winter project...!?!

Nice to see urethane end links in the box, even their bushings are a joke!!

Rear compared to stock:

Bushing Issue, Front and Rear:
The Addco supplied bushings are NOT as advertised.
1.  The bushings dont fit into the stock brackets.
2.  The supplied rear (only) brackets are not a direct swap into the rear subframe.  They have a single bolt  hole and the subrame has nuts tacked into the mounting location for two.[/b]

I called Addco on this.  They advertise the set up as a being designed to be a direct swap for factory parts with NO fabrication needed.. HA!  A-holes.  I will be giving John in tech the riot act.  No biggie though, just a PIA.

I ended up purchasing Suspension Techniques bushings for 37 bucks shipped.

More later..

2/3/2010

OK, so the ST bushings came and they made the rear bar smooth right in..

Time to move on to the front!!

Yeah, about that..

So after much gnashing of teeth, dropping of subframes, and removal of struts.  I came to the conslusion that the front bar just wasn't going to fit into the car.. and after some closer scrutinizing of the bar itself, I discovered why!  The geniuses made the bar from 1" stock instead of 7/8" as advertised!  When I tried to test fit the new ST bushings it smacked me in the face!!  REALLY GUYS?!   I was dumbstruck.

So back on the horn it is, with Summit and John Wright of Addco.  John whipped out a 7/8" bar and had it to me in 4 business days!  He also said that he saw my photos of the bushings they ship with these bars and that they are a joke.  He said they will be sourcing the proper set for future use.  So as of 2/2/2010, the Addco sway bar fiasco is over!  The 7/8" bar went in with out a hitch..

The only thing I have to say on the matter is that you will want a longer bolt/nut for sinching the bushing strap down tight with.  This allows you to get the other shorter stock piece in, then swap the longer out for the other  stock allen head cap screw.  Other than that trick, its pretty straight forward.
